An unusually well preserved didrachm of Demetrios II

SELEUKID KINGS OF SYRIA. Demetrios II Nikator, first reign, 146-138 BC. Didrachm (Silver, 20 mm, 7.00 g, 1 h), Phoenician standard. Sidon, SE 169 = 144/3. Diademed and draped bust of Demetrios II to right. Rev. ΒAΣIΛEΩΣ - ΔHMHTPIOY Eagle standing left with closed wings; behind, palm frond; to left, ΘΞP (date) above monogram of ΠA; to right, ΣΙΔΩ above aphlaston; between the eagle's legs, monogram of ΓP. SC 1955.1. Lightly toned and unusually well preserved for this denomination. Slightly rough and with a minor flan crack, otherwise, about extremely fine.
